Do I need a Maternity Bra?
I've been selling maternity clothing since 2015, and the term maternity bra is just a marketing term. There is nothing special or different about a maternity bra. There is nothing that makes it different than a regular bra.
Some women will experience a lot of growth in their breasts during pregnancy, while others won't experience any growth at all. Some will experience growth after baby is born, while others will experience growth in every trimester.
If you're one of those women who's experiencing breast growth in every trimester, it can get pretty expensive to keep buying new bras to fit your changing body.
The number ONE bra recommendation I make to my pregnant Moms is to get a seamless bra.
What's a Seamless Bra
- Multiple hook placements
- Lots of value for your money!
Seamless bras are one big piece of stretchy fabric. It's a quick-dry fabric, usually made of a nylon-spandex blend, which is why you usually find it in sports bras. So it's really stretchy. It's not the sexiest bra in the world, but it is yoga pants for your boobs! It's the most comfortable thing you can wear.
These bras come with alot of hook placements or a colour matching bra extender. What's great about it is the cups aren't molded so your breasts can keep growing and this bra will stretch with you. This bra will fit you through a lot of the changes in your body. While you're pregnant your rib cage is expanding and the curve of your spine is changing. After baby is born, your rib cage will shrink back down and your breasts will grow during the engorgement phase and might stay bigger.
MOM BRAIN MOMENT! LOL
Not just pregnancy brain....you keep it when you're a mom!
The best features of the bra
This bra will be able to stay in your wardrobe for a long time. I'm not saying you won't have to go up a size at any point, but remember, what goes up must come down. So any bras that you buy during your pregnancy, if you're planning to breastfeed, then buy them with the breastfeeding clips.
The bras you stat buying in the first and second trimester may not fit you right after your baby is born, but around the 6-month mark when your baby starts on solids and as you lose weight, your breasts are going to start to shrink over time.
So the bras that became too small during your pregnancy are going to start to fit you again. So it's a good investment because you are going to get to wear it twice.
